Diesel Exhaust Fluid Keeps Your Fleet Moving Forward

As environmental regulations evolve, it’s creating considerable change in the trucking industry. One of the most significant requirements passed in recent years involves the addition of Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) to medium- and heavy-duty vehicles with a Tier 4 engine. This non-toxic solution isn’t a fuel or fuel additive. Rather, it is injected into the exhaust stream and passed over a catalyst. The end result is that it converts the toxic nitrogen oxide generated by the combustion process into harmless nitrogen and water as it exits the exhaust.

Diesel Exhaust Fluid Refills

Most DEF tanks carry between 15 and 20 gallons. This is enough for roughly 5,000 to 6,000 miles of highway driving. We can establish a regular refill schedule based on your needs or deliver refills on the spot when you require them. We have numerous refill options available that are tailored to meet your fleet’s requirements.

Further, Greens Energy Services is available 24/7/365 to answer your call. Day, night, holiday, or weekend, we work hard to ensure your fleet doesn’t idle by the side of the road. We can also help you track your needs so that your vehicles never run out of the fluid they need to run.

At Greens Energy Services, our closed systems are designed to protect the DEF from contamination and spills.

Our interchangeable nozzles and couplers allow us to safely and efficiently deliver the payload without waste or environmental damage. Our strict adherence to safety protocols and investment in high-quality delivery equipment means that we can service our clients throughout the region at a rate of 8-60 gallons per minute.

Storing Diesel Exhaust Fuel

DEF is stable and has a long shelf life. Properly stored and maintained in an ISO-approved container, you can safely store it for a year and use it without any problem. However, you want to be careful using any DEF that you have stored and ensure that it’s properly tested if you have any concerns. This is especially important in Florida, where high temperatures and exposure to sunshine can degrade DEF.

Poor DEF can cause a wide range of problems. These can include loss of effectiveness, increased fuel consumption by the vehicle, engine de-rating or shutdown, and potential damage to the vehicle’s pumps, filters, and SCR system. The bottom line is, if it’s not clear or appears cloudy and discolored, it should be discarded.

Contact Greens Energy Services at (407) 813-1266 to learn more about the steps we recommend for safely storing DEF. We will also tell you more about our disposal services and the requirements for disposing of DEF in Florida.
